Frequently Asked Questions
How do your sessions work?
Pet Photos Plus offers portrait sessions in your home, at our studios, or on location of your choice. Your portrait session can include just your pet or the entire family. During your portrait session, we capture a variety of images of your pet using posed shots, candid shots, and more.
Whats the difference between the New Hope & Lambertville Studios?
New Hope Studio includes quick, up to 30 minute sessions with use of creative backdrops, props, and lighting. We even celebrate your pet's birthday with special treats.
Lambertville Studio is a larger facility where we can photograph families with or without their pets. The additional space gives us the ability to photograph classical and fine art portraits. By appointment only.
How do I prepare for my portrait sessions?
We encourage you to have your dog groomed a couple of days or so before your session, even just a good bath and brush out will work! If you have a young, high energetic dog we suggest you to take your dog for a walk before you arrive at your session. This way your dog will be more relaxed during our time together.
How can I schedule a photo session at the Lambertville studio?
You can schedule a photo session by sending an email or call to make contact. On the day of your photo session, you will schedule another appointment to return to our office to order your portraits. All photo sessions and ordering sessions are by appointment only.
Do you charge a sitting fee?
We have a fee for every photo experience which includes the photo session, ordering session, and professional retouching. We offer a variety of fees depending on the type of photo experience you are looking for. Your sitting fee is collected at the time you reserve your photo session.
How long is a typical portrait session?
Every portrait session is unique and will vary in length. The New Hope studio session is about 15-30 minutes. The other sessions depend on which photography plan you choose. The first few minutes of your session will be used to provide comfort for your pet.
How long is a typical ordering session?
New Hope studio ordering takes place immediately after the shoot and typically takes about 10-15 minutes. In our Lambertville studio and other locations, the ordering will take place with a scheduled appointment. Allow at least an hour to view your portrait options and make purchasing decisions. All decision-makers should be present when selecting portrait sizes and artistic finishes.
After ordering, how long before I receive my portraits?
Allow 2 - 4 weeks for portraits, and any personalized products.
Can I order additional or custom photo products after my ordering session?
Yes! Your images will be saved on file for 6 months from the date of your portrait session, and any portraits or custom photo products can be ordered from us during that time. Many clients schedule their portrait session in the spring or summer months and use those images to order their holiday cards in the winter months. We make gift giving easy for friends and family for the entire year.
What if my pet won't sit still for portraits?
We get this question ALL the time! So let us put your mind at ease. We see all the different personalities of pets, just name it! We even photograph a lot of pets who are blind or deaf. We take a different approach to photographing each pet because all pets are different! A squeaky noise might work great to get one dog to sit nicely and tilt her head, while the same noise might cause another dog to become crazy and obsessed. Our photographers have the patience to outlast any personality that may seem impossible to photograph. We promise not to let you leave the session until we capture the best portraits possible. If you are not happy, we will reshoot your session free of charge or refund your fee. We stand behind our services and products 100%
Do you offer consultations?
Absolutely! If you would like a complimentary consultation to help you prepare for your portrait session, just send us an email. A consultation prior to your portrait session is a great time for us to meet in person and talk about clothing, backgrounds, and what to expect the day of your portrait session.
What should I wear?
If you are joining your pet(s) in the portrait, these are suggestions for what to wear:
- Solid color tops. Busy patterns take attention away from your pet(s).
- Wear a color that contrasts with the coloring of your pet(s) so they don't blend into your clothing.
- Long sleeve or 3/4 length sleeves work best when creating classic portraiture.
- Families should wear colors in the same color harmony. Different shades of the same color are great, but avoid clothing with high contrast tones such as one person in a black top and one person in a white top.
How should I prepare my pet for a shoot?
Great question. In general it's a STRONGLY ENCOURAGED idea to make sure they get plenty of exercise before the shoot so they are more relaxed than usual. Take them for a run or to the dog park. If you have a cat, this is obviously not as critical. If it's important to you, please make sure they are washed and groomed.
Is there a fee for travel?
If your destination is within 30 miles of New Hope, there is no fee. If your shoot is more than 30 miles, we will charge a traveling fee depending on distance. If you are outside of PA-NJ we will try to accommodate you!
